Midcap Equity Mutual Fund Schemes are equity mutual fund schemes in which a large portion of the investment is put into mid cap companies.

According to SEBI, Mid Cap schemes is defined in its Circular SEBI/HO/IMD/DF3/CIR/P/2017/114 dated October 6, 2017.

According to it, a Mid cap is defined as a company between 101st - 250th company in terms of full market capitalization.

Thus, a minimum investment in equity & equity related instruments of mid cap companies will be 65% of total assets.

Who should invest in these schemes

Equity schemes always carries market risks.

So, an investor with moderate or high risk appetite can invest in these schemes.

For example, a moderate risk taker with 8+ years SIP or investment holding patience can opt for this type of schemes.

Similarly, a high risk taker with 5 to 8 years SIP or investment holding patience can opt for this type of schemes can opt for this scheme as well.

Different schemes will have different tracking benchmark index for mid cap schemes.

Best Midcap for a 5-year period
